Swaziland operator says second challenge will be submitted to the Court

The online casino operator in Swaziland currently challenging the claimed illegality of online gambling in the Gauteng province of South Africa has urged online gamblers to be patient as it awaits a High Court ruling on internet gambling.

The Gauteng Gambling Board this week warned that online wagering is illegal, but online operator Casino Enterprises of Swaziland says it is trying to contest this.

A Casino Enterprises spokesman said the Pretoria High Court has not dismissed its application to provide online gambling to the residents of Gauteng. He said the first application was set aside on Tuesday this week but that a second will be submitted in the next two weeks.

The Gauteng Gambling Board is still adamant that online gambling in South Africa is illegal.

The South African government is currently studying a detailed recommendation that online gambling be regulated in the country. The recommendation was submitted by a SA Gambling Board-commissioned investigating committee which carried out a detailed enquiry on the industry both domestically and internationally.
