BAD BEAT JACKPOT UP AT A QUARTER MILLION
Absolute Poker's Bad Beat Jackpot could make the next 'loser' wealthy

The recently introduced Absolute Poker.com Bad Beat Jackpot soared to $250 000 this week, making the poker action more attractive for players who fear this poker phenomenon. The Bad Beat Jackpot pays out to the table where a player loses a poker hand holding four eights (8888) or anything better, and a total of $78 000 has already been awarded from the original $100 000 offering.

The jackpot of our highly popular Texas Holdem game is growing at over $2 000 per hour, David Clainer, senior vice president for Absolute Poker revealed. Its only a matter of time before this jackpot explodes and we shower an unprecedented amount of money on a table of winners.

Site activity was at an all-time high this weekend after Absolute Poker reported that the jackpot had hit $100 000 on Friday, Clainer remarked, hinting that Absolute Poker is gearing up for an influx of new players.

With the jackpot standing as it is at present, the next time the it hits, the bad beat victim will take home over $100 000. And with poker fans playing up to three tables at once, that could happen sooner than later.

Absolute Poker launched its Bad Beat Jackpot game on Friday, June 22nd. By June 23rd, the first Jackpot had hit and four players collectively won close to $78 000 with the victim of the bad beat claiming over $38 000. By June 26th, Absolute Poker was celebrating its third Bad Beat Jackpot hit.

To help the jackpot build, 50 cents is collected from qualifying hands at Bad Beat Jackpot specified tables.

STOP PRESS: As we went to press this week the news was just out that Absolute Poker's Bad Beat Jackpot had been hit for the fourth time - on this occasion for $100 000.

On July 3rd at 02:45 ET, an online poker player who goes by the name of CHAAWUU, lost quad tens to a straight flush playing $2 No Limit Hold'em. Normally, a loss like that would leave even the most hardened player feeling crushed. But because he was seated at one of the designated Bad Beat Jackpot tables, CHAAWUU's loss set off the Bad Beat Jackpot bells for the 4th time and netted him $104 050.68 in cash.

"This latest win represents our biggest jackpot yet," said David Clainer, senior vice president for Absolute Poker. "We're turning losing hands into cold hard cash and Texas Hold'em players are loving it."

The 5th jackpot now starts out at $59 457.53.
