Latest results show that Brit betting group is still packing 'em in
William Hill, the British betting group regarded by many as an industry indicator has reported positive but unexciting full year results that include gross win from interactive operations up by 6 percent to GBP130.5 million, with operating profits showing a small increase to GBP61.5 million.
Online growth was being impacted by the relative inflexibility of our current technology configuration the company reported. To remedy the situation, the NextGen technology programme will be implemented during 2007 to overhaul and enhance its current infrastructure.

Performance of its poker and casino products had also been disappointing due to the shutdown of the US market and increased competition for European players, the company said.
The results also revealed a gross overall win rise of 15 percent to GBP931.3 million on 2005. Profit on ordinary activities before finance charges and exceptional items increased 19 percent to GBP292.2 million. The World Cup and FOBTs had performed strongly, boosting year-on-year growth, the company said.
