Corresponding US bank pulls the rug on Internet gambling transactions
Yet another manifestation of the far-reaching implications of the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act came to notice this week with the news that Curacao-based Giro Bank, which has hitherto been prepared to handle online gambling transactions, has been threatened.
Letter from Giro to its clients advised that its (unnamed) corresponding US bank had threatened to severe relationships unless the online gambling aspect of Giro's business was abandoned.
