Having considered the circumstances, the WSOP adjudicators (who did not pick up on the transgressions at the time) have decided after reviewing the case that Gold had not deliberately attempted to violate rules and that no penalties would be invoked retroactively for the incidents.
The World Series of Poker has therefore decided not to penalise Gold, who admitted in a newspaper interview with the New York Times that he had shown a hole card to his opponent, and had also held top pair and top kicker after the opponent had bet, in violation of WSOP tournament rules.
