DUSK TIL DAWNS LAND SISTER OPENS AT LAST
Licensing board hassles overcome as Nottingham doors open
The marketing director at the UK land poker room Dusk Til Dawn, Rob Yong probably summed up the delays and frustration of launching the swish new poker facilities in Nottingham, England this week when he said: "It's been a long struggle but it's been worth it. The club is looking great and I know the poker community is going to love it."
DTD, which has a successful Internet sister at Dusk Til Dawn.com, has had to survive a long battle with the regional licensing bureaucracy and competing businesses that began last year (see previous InfoPowa reports). But that is now water under the bridge as the company has successfully opened its doors and looks forward to some hectic action starting this weekend with a series of big-money promotions and tournaments.
Live Poker Director Simon Trumper said he was pleased with the attendance the club is expecting over the weekend. "I never had any doubts that we would sell all our seats for the opening weekend. We can't rest on our laurels, though, as the real challenge is to make Dusk Till Dawn the best club in Europe and keep players coming through our door over the years to follow."
Dusk Till Dawn is also making it easier for players to get in on the live tournaments through its online poker site sister. In a unique arrangement, Dusk Till Dawn has made it possible for people not only to register but also to buy-in online for their live events at the club.
Dusk Till Dawn has 45 tables in operation, and the club has received over 3 000 membership requests already, suggesting a successful future along the lines of California poker room operations such as the Commerce Casino and the Bicycle Club.
