One of online gambling's most passionate detractors apparently enjoys almost $40 000 in encouragement and support from an industry that benefits increasingly from his attacks on Internet gambling.

More political support for Barney
The Internet Gaming Regulation and Enforcement Act introduced earlier this year to regulate and license U.S. online gambling has been supported by a further three Congressmen, bring to 44 the total co-sponsors for the legislation, which was launched by Congressman Barney Frank.

Tom Hall's AsianLogic could become the first London IPO for an Asian gambling firm
AsianLogic, a gambling software company founded by ex-Playtech CEO Tom Hall could become the first Asian gambling company to launch a London IPO, according to the Reuters news agency, reporting that the firm is set to list before the Christmas break with a $110 million offer on the AIM.

It is believed that $90 million of the capital raised will be devoted to expansion and acquisition projects. Hall disclosed that around $50 million would be earmarked for acquistions in Asia, and about $20 million would be deployed into developing slot machines for Asian gaming hotspots like Macau and the Philippines. The National Poker League is kick-starting the week today (Monday) with the opening of the Las Vegas Open, a $15 000 buy-in No Limit Hold 'em gathering of champions in the world's best known gambling mecca.

The BBC World Service has highlighted the gravity of the growing UEFA match-fixing allegations, reporting that investigating officers have been supplied with a list of 15 games that the European soccer body suspects may have been affected.

The report quotes the former head of the English Football Association compliance unit, Graham Bean, who opined that the issue has the potential to be the biggest of its kind ever to impact the international game. Mohawk exec explains policing agreements and denies Quebec friction
Last week's news originated by Canadian medium CBC that the owners of Kahnawake licensed Golden Palace online casino had paid a fine for illegal gambling was given a different perspective by a member of the Mohawk Internet Technologies board this week.

The original report revealed that following a police raid on the Montreal offices of Cyber World Group last year, that company had paid a $2 million fine. Cyber World operates Golden Palace Casino, which is licensed by and operates on servers located on Kahnawake First Nation territory. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission contends that it is exempt from the Canadian Criminal Code which gives sole authority to issue gambling licenses to the Canadian provinces. Poker world mourns Chip Reese
According to media reports from the United States today (Tuesday) three time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Poker Hall of Famer and legendary cash game poker ace David "Chip" Reese died in the early hours, aged 56. As we went to press no further details on his passing were available.

The owners of the SportXction wagering woftware, Interactive Systems Worldwide, Inc. have agreed a deal with Neptune Race and Sports Book, Inc. which should see fruition early in the new year.

Neptune currently provides turnkey race and sports wagering systems and services for use in cruise ship and resort casinos. The intention of the agreement is for Neptune to license the ISW's SportXction to add play-by-play wagering to its existing capabilities in current and future casino venues. Back in September we reported on the possibility of Inspired Gaming plc being acquired by the FL Group (see previous InfoPowa report) but the negotiations appear to have made little progress, according to a statement from the company this week.

Ex-Talarius exec recruited to handle investment firm's adult gaming division
Nick Harding, the newly appointed CEO at gaming investment company Aldgate Capital plc has not wasted any time in bringing on board a trusted executive from his former company, Talarius. This week Jonathon Hughes was appointed as managing director of the adult gaming division.

Harding, who himself joined recently (see previous InfoPowa report) described Hughes as a key appointment and an executive who knows the specialised AG field well.
