Advertising Standards Authority unhappy with Paddy Power and Intercasino ads
The United Kingdom's Advertising Standards Authority has taken exception to ads from gambling companies that it claims linked online gambling with increased sexual prowess. The Paddy Power and Intercasino ads will probably be withdrawn as a consequence.

The Advertising Standards Authority said Paddy Power was "irresponsible" to suggest gambling won admiration in an advert for financial spread betting that featured a man drinking champagne in a limousine, flanked by two women with some innuendo in the copy.  more...

Shares of casino operators with properties in Macau climbed this week after the Chinese enclave's top official said it will place a hold on new gambling licenses.

Associated Press reports that Edmund Ho told Chinese lawmakers that no further casino concessions or sub-concessions would be issued in the foreseeable future. The government also will not approve any new applications from the territory's 28 casinos for additional gambling tables or slot machines, he said.  more...

The Italian draft, which lays down requirements for remote (online) gambling operators seeking to do business in Italy, also raised concerns from Malta, in the form of a Detailed Opinion. Police detectives in Tampa, Florida have reported the arrest this week of an Apollo Beach resident for illegal Internet gambling activity at his business address in Sun City Boulevard.

Jon P.
