Wembley Stadium once again hosted the greatest cup final of them all - The FA Cup Final.
Wembley which ran massively over budget and was completed a year later than originally envisaged,
welcomed home the FA Cup Final. As such this year's final promised much but unfortunately for
the neutral football fans turned out to be somewhat of a damp squib of an affair. Rarely coming to life, with both Chelsea and Man Utd showing the effects of heavy legs as a result of a long hard punishing season. As it was for many neutrals, the event of the actual game was overshadowed by the fact that Wembley had reopened it's doors to English Football.
As part of the pre match build up, footballing legends and greats who have graced the hallowed Wembley turf in the past took part in the opening ceremony. This culminated in HRH Prince William officially opening the great stadium immediately followed by a celebratory fly past by the red arrows.
On the pitch there were few chances and it was felt with the clock ticking down that penalties would have to be taken to settle the final. That was until the 26th minute of extra time when Didier Drogba stabbed home the winner and only goal past Edwin Van de Sar.
